Maine Potato Industry Legislative Tour 2025

From July 15–18, 2025, the Maine Potato Industry Legislative Tour took participants from Bangor to Aroostook County for a seed-to-chip look at the industry. Highlights included the Maine Seed Potato Board’s early-generation facility (where over 80% of Maine potatoes began), ag-tech at Porter Farms, the Maine Malt House, irrigation and permitting work at Irving and Madore Farms, UMaine’s Aroostook Farm breeding program (home of the Caribou Russet), a preview of the new Taste of Maine potato-chip plant, and processing at Pineland Farms. Evenings featured dinners with growers and a lakeside social at Long Lake Sporting Club, and the tour wrapped at the Maine Potato Board Annual Meeting & Grower Dinner in Easton before returning to Bangor.
